Earning Them Stripes

Black and white striped prints, I think, work very well on my body, and it matters not if they are horizontal or vertical. With the contrast in color, not only does the print naturally draw attention but it’s strong enough to hide flaws.

Last spring we saw some peeks of stripes in the store fronts, but this season, it is literally EVERYWHERE. The colors definitely reign supreme when it comes to styling and piecing things together. It makes throwing something on in the morning so much more easier. 

 Whoa! Menswear

 I dead-ass be all up in the men’s section of clothing stores trying on all their shit. I think I am at that age where I’m like “fuck being cute, I just wanna be comfortable.” Menswear is it for me though. I love how it just hang off the body with that “I don’t give two fucks” kind of feel.

 Mens blazers, coats, tees sweats and even sweaters are some of my favorite things to cop. They all give edge and comfort, which are my two favorite things to have when it comes to styling.

That Ole ass Denim Though?

I was like 16 when I stole this denim Banana Republic structured jacket from my sister. She took it back when she moved out – TUH! Well I’ve managed to restocked and re-steal it back from her earlier this year. Since deemed re- owner of the jacket it has managed to get two very big holes at the elbows that I could surely careless about.

It’s good to invest in good denim, because even when it gets old it still looks amazing and if you’re a vintage lover like I am, it’ll look better with time in your eyes. Moreover, denim is very timeless and will never, ever ever ever go out of style.

Snapbacks and Fuck The Tattoos- FOR NOW

Me being a writer, I like to say what the fuck I feel. So lately I have been expressing myself- not here of course, but on some of my latest headgear, Snapbacks.

Whether it is to promote some of the shit that I am currently involved in or even just as a form of self expression, I am obsessed with creative Snapbacks. They have become a unique way to finesse and, of course, hide bad hair days. Not only that but if paired with a little pop of lipstick, it can take a very masculine accessory and make it feminine and sexy.

So apparently, a short while back, I used to be the girl that showed TOO much leg. And it seems that lately I have calmed down a bit. I have grown to love that whole bohemian long flowing dress type of thing, you know, it’s like I said before, comfort is key. But I’m battling with a dilemma, I don’t want to lose my sexy.

Asymmetrical hemlines I adore because it gives you best of both worlds. You get flow, you get length, you get coverage, you get mystery and you show leg. With the trend of sheer panel maxis all over spring runways, this season, the maxi is far sexier than it has been in the past.

As the football season rounds off, some of us are alittle excited for the Superbowl for other reasons than just football. I mean, Beyonce has been put on the bill for the superbowl half time performance for this year. and who couldnt be more excited than me! 

Anyways, as promo, the RNB Diva Extraordinaire was placed on the cover of the Feb issue of GQ magazine, and boy does she reveal all!! 

Strategically placed in sexy football attire, we are seeing the queen Bey in ways we have never seen her before. 

The spread shows a sexy side but not too over the edge.

WHO DONE IT BETTER??: “Braid Frenzy”

Fashion is a cycle. Time passes and so do the trends, but unlike time, one can relive the trends. Trends always have this ability to re-invent themselves. I don’t know if you guys noticed, but this braid trend seems to be taking over!! 

Now I’m not going to lie, I fucking love these braids! I want them so badly, BUT I do remember wanting them before everyone else had them. Though everyone else is doing them and trying to make them their own, these three ladies were and are known for their braids.

But who done it better?

I think I like Solange’s interpretation and her style that goes with it…

So I was thinking about getting some Guiseppe’s as my quarter of a century birthday gift. Kimberly Kardashian (thats what I refer to her as since shes gotten with Kanye- TUH!) posted a “His and Hers” photograph of their footwear and peeped these Kanye West for Guiseppe Cuffed stiletto pumps… They will only run you about 6,000 dollars ON SALE! Oh the Joys of High Fashion!

“AN APPETITE FOR OX BLOOD” 

Ox Blood red is that beautifully dark, deep, mystic red shade that wreaks sophistication and grunginess all at the same time. 

This color is me! I absolutely love Ox Blood red. I thought Purple was my favorite color until this season. I think this color is flattering on everyone. It can be dark enough to hide “flaws” and bold enough to make and huge statement wherever one may go. 

You can not go wrong with this shade this upcoming fall season.

Every year I find myself falling in love with a particular type of accessory. For example, I went through this phase where I was absolutely in love with ridiculously huge gigantic bamboo earrings (only one pair though). I always thought that by wearing them it would take the attention away from my extremely huge cheeks- not that it worked. Then there was my infamous bangals phase. I would wear at least 60 at a time. I mean I am still very much into this phase, because bangals are timeless to me, I just don’t wear as many as I used to. 

Lately, I find myself reverting back to my younger high school days. I am slowly getting back in to the world of athletic foot wear, fitted caps, skully caps, and tees. Back when life was simple. 

I find myself struggling to find a style that I absolutely love and adore, that can work anywhere. I am slowly discovering that  MY sexy is always effortless when I am in sweats, sneakers and a bomber jacket. So here I am testing my comfort level once again. This upcoming fall I am sure I will find myself meshing bangals ;) with skully caps, leather bomber, slashed Ely Daine. vests, with red lips, and poppin ass athletic footwear… Fuck Stilletos! Okay I’ll slide a few pair in there somewhere. :)

ELY DAINE. Sneak Peek : Double Split Maxi Skirt

This is a very late post. I made this skirt about two months ago. I wore it about 3 weeks ago. Now, this was supposed to be a prototype skirt. It was just me experimenting on a random day just blasting music. I wore it out on a regular day to a doctors appointment and it received more attention than I could have ever imagined. Not to mention I received 2 orders out of it! 

Thats a start! 

“BLING BLING!!!!”

For the past year I have been working diligently hard on mastering the, often difficult, task of painting BOTH left and right fingernails. It took a while , but I have it pretty down packed. It is because of this that I have not been to a nail salon and been satisfied, in a very long time. Last week though, I saw this masterpiece of a job and it made me want to take an spontaneous trip to “Bling Bling Nail Salon” 

I loved the craftsmanship and creativity. Freestyle nail designing at the best I have ever seen it.
